Here in France, no more cart-witnessing, no more door to door, no more meeting. Only zoom, internet, telephone and lettres. The end is so so near...

i've been out of the loop for a while so some things have passed me by.
so i'm curious how jw's are affected by the covid virus.
are they still preaching or having meetings etc?.

so my 88 mil died and was the epitome of a faithful sister.
my wife and her sister are members of the congregation for 40+ years.
to be fair it was short notice but we had the showing and visitation and only about 12 out of 120 of the congregation showed up and only 1 elder!
It was the same with my grand mother, she knew JWs during WW2 ! But she was Sister Nobody! No elder in the family, no VIP... So only 10 attended the office, and 10 others sent a kind word...
well, 70 years "in the truth" were worth nothing for those "so extraordinary people".
Very sad, but it was one among many elements which made me leave years later.
i just saw the congregation analysis report for 2020, a form i have not noticed before.
it asks for the number of "active publishers.
" this is a term i have not seen specified before.
a third condition was "irregular publisher" when one month in the 6 last months was missing. You were only "active" if every month in the 6 last months was OK
2020-07-10--announcement.

hi Petra
would you please add me on your PM list ?
thank you
i have a trove of old watchtower literature.
i know of course, and for example, to keep the three first volumes of the watchtower (bound) and a bunch of other items.
(and i handle them delicately.).
we all know that the watchtower (jehovah's witnesses) say the reason for disfellowshipping is to protect the congregation from some uncleanness or threat.so they "quarantine" (shun) those they perceive can spread information that does not agree fully with their teachings/doctrines.it's almost like they want to liken it to a real disease by calling opposers "mentally diseased", "threat" etc.
will the current state of affairs in the world regarding this pandemic strengthen their cause/argument in favor of isolating within their ranks?
i can visualize them in the near future even having parts at the hall or assemblies pointing back to this pandemic and saying something along the lines of "brothers what do you think would happen if we would not have quarantined and stayed away from any that were infected?
for myself, there is an embarrassingly long list of things that really should really have woken me up, fully.
it was a long process for me, as a mind controlled born in, things i simply did not agree with, or knew were downright wrong, that built and built, and, eventually i woke up, after 58 bloody years in !.
but just mainly for fun, what should have woken you up ?.
first alert was when they showed the video which explained you should not answer your disfellowshipped daughter, even for a phone call...
the good one was when elders told me I would have to chose between remaining in the congregation and playing "pagan music" with worldy people" in our town band. This evening, it was my last meeting and I never went back.
google translation from the government website:.
the federal government has agreed with the federal states on guidelines for a uniform approach to further restrict social contacts in public life.
grocery retail, weekly markets and delivery services, pharmacies, drugstores, banks, petrol stations and wholesalers remain unaffected.
the same in France since friday. I hope it's not too late...
i wonder if there will be panic buying of food, guns, gas ect due to the corona virus.
what do you guys think?.
food in Europe, guns in America ?
i just had this flashback when commenting on another thread about how they used to announce reproof or dfing from the platform.
at least in our congregation, it was a dramatic event (this is what i can remember from back in the mid-late 60's or early 70's when i was a kid).. at the end of the service meeting, just before singing the final song, the brother would announce, "we have a letter that must be read.
the "congregation servant" (my grandfather or later my father) would then slowly walk from the back of the kh to the platform.
"We are sorry to announce that Brother Weirdigan is no longer one of Jehovahs Witnesses. Now, a local-needs talk about the sin of sheep-shagging ..."
exactly what I lived several years ago. "Brother Polish Clarinet is no longer a ministerial servant". And now, brother Asshole will warn the assembly about the dangers of dating a non witness person" I hope nobody understood what my "sin" was...
